St Albans is a town with a great deal of history. During Roman times it was called Verulamium, when it was the second largest town in Roman Britain.
There have been two battles of the Wars of the Roses in and around St Albans, one that took place in 1455 and another in 1461. The town has an abbey with an early 15th century Clock Tower and Kingsbury Watermill is a museum with a waffle house attached.
