Civil Justice Centre and Crown Court

Civil Justice Centre and Crown Court

National Justice Museum Education delivers educational programmes at a variety of courtrooms across Manchester and the North West including the Greater Manchester Police Museum and Manchester Metropolitan University

We help to educate young people about the legal system. Learners take part in a scripted/semi scripted mock trial with the chance to dress up in wigs and robes. Young people learn about the different courts and the different roles that work within the legal system. They also have the opportunity to improve their debating skills by taking part in reaching a verdict.

An interactive courtroom workshop is used to engage young people and encourage them to think about their responsibilities as active citizens. Students gain a new insight into the realities and consequences of committing a crime.

The sessions aim to raise the aspirations of young people by encouraging them to ask questions to a range of legal professionals and law student volunteers about what it is really like to work in the legal system and study law.

We can offer workshops for SEN groups across all our sites actually as long as these are booked in advance.

Information from Venue:

“Children thoroughly enjoyed the project.  The mock trial was excellent – they enjoyed the opportunity to role play the various roles.  A great experience for them!”

Ian Caldwell – Deputy Head – Ladybarn Primary School

“Very unique opportunity, children were able to see and understand how a court room works. Children are motivated and want to do well in their studies. They have been inspired by the barrister."

Shabana Naz Heald Place Primary School Assistant Head Teacher
