Lotherton Hall & Bird Garden

Lotherton Hall & Bird Garden

Where can you do all these things in one day?

Wander wistfully through a wildflower meadow? Travel the world through Africa and China with the Gascoigne family? Come face-to-face with exotic feathery friends? Imagine yourself living in a grand Edwardian house? And enjoy a picnic while watching a herd of deer?

Lotherton Estate, of course!

What's on offer

Across the estate, we have a menu of 1 to 4 hour cross-curricular workshops for you to choose from, or we can work with you to create a tailored package for you and your students. Ask us about our current schools workshops programme!

Come to Lotherton for topics such as bug and animal habitats, rare birds and conservation issues, diversity and classification, houses and homes, Victorians and World War Two. We have free digital and paper-based resources to make your visit easier, creative spaces for you to work in and we can help you with all the health and safety information you need.

What will it cost?

Local authority schools within the Leeds LEA will be charged for workshops that are led by our staff only. Admission is free. All other school groups will be charged entry per pupil on top of the workshop charge, unless otherwise specified or agreed with the site in advance.

Working to keep everyone safe

Lotherton Estate is committed to keeping everyone safe. All staff receive safeguarding training and staff who work closely with children, young people or vulnerable adults are DBS (formerly CRB) checked every three years. As part of Leeds City Council, we adhere to the Leeds Safeguarding Boards policies and procedures and practice safer recruitment.
