Knowsley is a great place for kids to discover more about the natural world and it's a fantastic opportunity to bring the curriculum to life. Prices start from just £7 per pupil and this includes a safari school educational workshop.

Learning outside the classroom is exactly what you would expect - using places other than the classroom to teach children. There is a wealth of evidence which suggests the best way to learn is through experience. Studies have repeatedly shown that learning outside the classroom:

- raises attainment and aspiration

- bolsters social, emotional and behavioural development

- contributes to the health and well being of children

- gives children the skills they need to become active and responsible citizens

- address educational inequality for children who do not thrive in a traditional classroom setting

The learning venue can have a huge affect on how well children engage with topic or an idea and at Knowsley we are committed to providing the very best experience for the children who visit. We are very proud of our "Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge".

The workshops that we offer through our Learning and Discovery department are designed to be creative and interactive. We use live animals, group activities in our discovery centre, plus we teach at enclosures and in the woodland walk.

Our Enhanced Discovery Days take the experience to the next level offering a range of behind the scenes and practical tasks for the children. Being away from the classroom has been highly praised by OSTED in their 2008 report and benefits are seen for schools both excelling in achievement and underperforming.
