Got an HSTA account? Then you can take advantage of National Poetry Day on Thursday 6 October to find great venues which offer you the ability to engage your students in all things poetic by taking them on an educational visit.
There are many ways HSTA can help:
Firstly, simply by searching for something obvious like poem, poet or your favourite poet's name, such as ‘Wordsworth’, ‘Keats’ or ‘Burns’, or of course for the name of one of the poets on the National Curriculum you are teaching. Simply type your search into the 'Find a Venue' bar. For example a search for the word 'poet' would return these results.
Secondly, in the ‘Find Info’ search bar you can also search for ‘poet’ to find areas of the UK associated with poetry. That search would yield these results.
Thirdly, using the ‘Planning a School Trip’ top menu bar option then choosing ‘Curriculum Subjects’ you can navigate to the page about ‘English’ to find a full list of all the venues in the UK which deliver school trip experiences for that subject.
Whichever way you choose to find inspirational poetry experiences on which to take your students you can also find plenty of resources within Handsam SchoolTripsAdvisor to help you plan the trip safely and effectively. But if you do need help with any aspect of the trip then why not consider signing up to our support package or online planning system.
